ZAMBIAN upcoming artistes Frank Chirwa aka Afunika, Indy K and Lusaka's Klub Vegas DJ Bizzy Wizzy are set to support the launch of Jordan Katembula's latest album Akapilipili in South Africa on Saturday night. The launch, scheduled for Monte Casino, Fourways in Johannesburg, is courtesy of DJ Tabs Entertainment and Zambezi Airlines. Based on the Copperbelt and with his music currently enjoying massive air play, Afunika will be making his debut at the venue which organisers say has attracted a lot of attention. With popular songs like Kakonkote, Malinso and I Miss You set in well-coordinated lyrics, Afunika will not only help JK launch his album, but also use the opportunity to market his own brand. On the other hand, Kombe famously known as Indy K will use the platform to showcase her stage works which she has managed so well with last week's performance at the Brick and Lace concert in Lusaka. Her anthem, Chipuba Chandi, a collaboration with Dandy and currently enjoying popularity in South Africa will determine how far she can go as people look forward to her perfomance. And Bismack Tembo aka DJ Bizzy Wizzy who for a long time now has accompanied Zambian artistes performing outside the country says he is pleased to see local artistes launching their albums across borders.

LOCAL artiste Mundia Mukubesa aka Petersen Zagaze last Saturday night attracted several fans at Lusaka’s Zinc Pub in Kamwala South where he appeared for a performance that was also meant to introduce some of his new songs from his forthcoming album Job 13 vs 13. Prior to the performance that was well-attended and kept Zinc Pub alive till Sunday morning Petersen announced in an interview that his album is set to be released in September. “My performance here is one of those usual shows to just help me keep in touch with my fans and let them know what I am working on. As you may be aware, I am currently working on my new album which hopefully will be released by end of September and launched in October,” he says. Petersen, whose second and probably most successful album, Bobojani was released three years ago under Copperbelt-based producer Ben Blazer and still enjoying the support says his new project is specifically targeted at introducing him to the international market.
